TAMAR M. BOYADJIAN

TAMAR M. BOYADJIAN was born in the "View of Mountains," but her life has been that of a wandering troubadour. She teaches medieval literature (and the literature of other people and cultures) as well as creative writing and translation & translation studies. From the time she was very young, her world has been habitually medieval, though she also visits other worlds from time to time. Most of her work draws attention to language & subjectivity, particularly in relation to her own native tongue, Western Armenian--which is on the list of UNESCO's dying languages. Her work invites dialogue with other cultures whose cultural preservation is integral to their survival as a result of colonization and genocide. Tamar Boyadjian is her life's artist.
